Romsey Town 1 - 1 Alton
Posted: 20.02.17It was a pleasant surprise to be greeted with warm spring sunshine at Romsey, although it could have been a bit of an inconvenience to each keeper when at the top end but, as it turned out, neither had a great deal of work to do on the day.
Sean Hayes struck a volley on target in the first minute with the second such attempt coming 56 minutes later when Scott Sanderson drove home following a low cut back from Joe Green. It was a lead that Alton held for just five minutes as the home side equalised from close range.
Each side had spells of pressure but neither was able to dominate the other, with both defences having the upper hand in a game where a share of the points was probably the fair outcome – and a point for Alton that they traditionally find hard to come by at Romsey.
