Alton Girls and Ladies Weekend Roundup

22 Apr 2024

Here’s your round up from the girls & ladies fixtures this weekend.

Alton Girls

Saturday 20th April

Meerkats L v Whiteley Wanderers W
Unfortunately the meerkats lost on the road to Whitley. Goals from Mabel and Sophin. A good performance from Jessie. We have one more game next week.

Thundercats W v Fawley Falcons L
Thundercats were winners against a determined Fawley team who never gave up. Goals. 3 for Sara, 2 for Maisie, & goals from Jasmine, Amelia, Kitty, Emily, Tessa. Player of the match with 4 assists was Jasmine. Our final game is on the 4th with 3rd place still to play for.

Pumas L v Brockenhurst W
The football gods were not with the Pumas this weekend who lost 4-1 to a very determined Brockenhurst. Goal from Ruby and Player of the match going to Evie A.

Panthers L v Tidworth Town W
The Panthers had their second trip in 8 days to sunny Wiltshire and despite their best efforts, had to come back down the A303 without any points, narrowly being beaten by Tidworth 2-1. Some excellent play and decision making, which we will continue to build on 💪💪
Maddison was chosen by the opposition as their girl of the game, the Panthers chose Lily.
The Panthers goal was scored by Caitlin, assisted by Daisy ⚽️

Warriors W v SSA Portsmouth L
The team put in a strong defensive performance & created lots of chances. Goals from Molly, Ellie May, Amelia and Willow along with an unfortunate own goal gave us 5-1 victory. Willow’s goal was outstanding (a half volley from the edge of the area). Molly was voted player of the match, but it was a whole team performance. 1 more game to go next week and if we play like we did today, the league will be ours. Well Done all 👏🏼⚽️

Saturday 21st April

Bobcats W v Manor Colts L
Manor Colts met our Bobcats for the Alton derby. Manor Colts took the lead but the Bobcats regrouped, pulled together and ended the match winners. All the girls played a significant part in the game, putting into practice all their training. Layla gave a captains performance, leading from the front with her goals and a never give in spirit. Paige scored some lovely goals too.

Ladies 5 v Burseldon Ladies Reserves 2
Always a pleasure to play Bursledon, such a nice group of players who play the game in the right spirit!
Not our best performance today, but a cracking first goal from Ania, hit sweetly from distance and 2 big positives to take away!
1) Mimi scoring her first goal for the ladies after stepping up from youth football at the beginning of the season
2) Poppy and Sophie not only being part of the squad for the first time, but playing so well when they were on! A big thanks to all their previous coaches at the club for all the work they’ve put in for the girls development.
It’s been a really positive and progressive first season for the ladies, with an exciting future ahead and big things on the horizon!
Thank you to all that have played a part this season, from players, sponsors, supporters and the club. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support from everyone!
