Alton 3 - 1 Christchurch
Posted: 11.02.17Alton continued their good from with a game that was far more comfortable than the score suggests.

Apart from early on when Christchurch started like an express train, it was Alton who dominated and created far more chances than the team from third in the table. Steve Battle and Andy Masson shot wide for Christchurch before Regan Hitch tested Frampton in the Christchurch as he shot from distance and the keeper got down to push the shot against the post.
Joe Green playing as a wing back wide on the right was causing the left back problems and from his pull back Scott Sanderson's shot hit the post and rolled wide. Fellow forward Gavin Muir went past his defender and although he lifted his shot over the keeper a defender got back to head of the line.
It looked as though Alton were going to pay the ultimate price when Brandon Boontam gave Christchurch the lead. It was a lead that was to last less then two minutes, when Sean Hayes's free kick was only half cleared and Regan Hitch pulled Alton level. The half ended with Muir and Green having chances that were saved. Sanderson headed over, before a good run by Joe Green ended with his shot bouncing off the bar.
Christchurch were becoming physical as they struggled to cope with Alton's fast flowing football and paid the ultimate price, Marcus Cullen was cautioned for an over zealous foul on Taylor Watts. Sean Hayes's free kick somehow found its way through a crowd of players to Scott Sanderson who gave the keeper no chance to put Alton in front.
A fine run from Hitch was again ended with a foul by Cullen who then saw red. A rare poor free kick from Hayes was an easy save for the keeper. Hayes wasn't to be denied and a few minutes later after an exchange with Muir he shot home from 25yards left the keeper floundering.
The confidence in Alton grew and Sanderson hit the side netting. A quick free kick caught Christchurch out and Jackson's shot was saved. Muir headed wide from a cross before Jackson again forced the keeper into a save.
And so the game ended with Alton securing another three points and with the changes made due to unavailability will give manager Clive Ventham some difficult decisions in the next few weeks.
