Weekend Roundup

Alton Ladies 5 - 1 Rushmoor Community

A 5⭐ Performance!

Today saw us go up against a Rushmoor side we battled against last season.

We started strong today and after some nice build up play, Cara found the run of Jodie behind the back four who slotted the ball into the bottom corner after just 2 minutes. We continued well and worked the ball nicely down the left-hand side of the pitch which saw Izzy fouled and won a penalty. Izzy then brushed herself off to smash the penalty into the back of the net.

Rushmoor then got a foot back into the game from a penalty. Alton then tested the Rushmoor GK with a few shots from distance but we went into the break at 2-1.

After some encouraging words from the coaching staff, Alton began the second half with the same energy and determination as we had in the first half. The ref had even commented on the good battle in the middle of the park between Dani and a Rushmoor player.

We then scored what is currently, and will be hard to beat, our Goal of the season, after a good cross from Jodie found Zoe who set the ball back to Dani who smashed in a thunderbolt of a shot into the top corner!

We continued to push and work had and were rewarded when Sophie T found Izzy with a beautiful disguised pass who put a great shot over the opposition GK on her weak foot!

We didn't let up there and continued to play the football we've trained to play and won another penalty after a handball in the box.

Izzy stepped up to complete her hattrick as Alton then say the game out!

Fulcrum 1 - 7 Alton Ladies Development

Seven Heaven for the Dev's today!

Our Alton Devs travelled to Havant academy today to face Fulcrum.

The ladies put in a good performance against an injury ravaged Fulcrum team.

Yas opened the scoring early with a low shot that caught out their keeper at the near post.

For the next 20 minutes the Devs knocked at the door, unable to break down Fulcrum’s determined flat-back 8, frustrating us at every turn. Credit to Fulcrum for their determination and spirit.

Eventually, a cross from Yas on the right was volleyed home by Holly arriving at the far post. Soon after, a through ball from Lucy was calmly put away by Jade.

Fulcrum got one back before the break to make it 3-1.

The Devs came out in the second half and really stepped up a gear - another goal from Jade early second half, followed by a couple from Lucy ensured that three points were won.

Then came the crowning jewel of the game; the ball dropping into the midfield from a corner came back to a waiting Leanne who, from about 30 yards out, hit the sweetest strike we are likely to see this season, stunning their keeper (and herself), it flew into the net for her first ever goal for Alton. Absolutely a goal-of-the-season contender.

The game finished 7-1. Congratulations to the Devs for a superb performance - thank you to all the ladies for their hard work.

Special mention must go to Skye, Maddison, Jasmine and Aimee for making their Development team debuts - products of our youth team; well done today girls.

Thank you to Fulcrum for hosting us, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

⚫️ U9 Gladiators
First loss of the season for the girls who came up against a very strong Farncombe Sparks team.
After a slow start, the girls kept battling back and performed much better in the final three quarters, showing great spirit.
Still lots to learn against the stronger teams, but a fantastic challenge for the team.
Goals: Maisie (2), Chloe & Isla
Coaches POTM - Maisie

⚪️ Bobcats narrowly lost to Camberley Bobcats, after a very late winner in what was a great battle of a game.
Lots to be proud of after some great individual and team performances. A commanding GK performance from Sophie with some brilliant distribution.

🟡 Alton Meerkats produced a dominant performance in the first round of the cup against Gosport. The meerkats were really respectful of their opposition, but played their own game to win 9-0. We move on next week to league leaders Hamble.
Goals: Mabel (4), Tilly (2), Sophin, Guilia and Willow.

⚫️ U15 Thundercats
A tough cup game against Headley from the division above. Thundercats controlled much of the first half, creating plenty of chances. With only one sub, the girls worked incredibly hard and were unlucky to go behind after a slip on the wet pitch allowed Headley through to score.
Headley grabbed their second just three minutes into the second half. We kept pushing and creating chances, but the Headley keeper was equal to everything we threw at her. Headley eventually wrapped up the game with a third to make it 3–0.
Despite the result, the first half was probably the best football we’ve played all season.

⚪️ U16 Pumas
A well battled match between 2 good teams, chances either way with 2 penalties being the difference. We go again next week!

🟡 Youth team went up against Pace in the cup from the division above, and found themselves 3 goals behind following a couple of good corners, but a bit of a tweak at half time saw improvements and we registered a goal, with Aimee scoring direct from a free kick.

Well done everyone!
