This was a very hard fought point on the road at a very tough place to go.
The game was played at a very fast pace with no quarter given by either side.
Sheerwater had the better of the first half but found young goalkeeper Charlie Burns in fine form, one diving save to his left and a block with his legs when a forward broke through clear on goal were the highlights of a very competent display.
The visitors were working really hard and were a constant threat and at times played some delightful passages of football as the first half ended all square.
The second half continued at a pace, the home side just about shaded the territory statistics but the Alton defensive unit shackled them well restricting them to only one clear cut chance that was fortunately proded wide of the far post from a really good position.
Sav Shah then forced an excellent save from the home keeper with a shot from 20 yards on the angle that looked destined for the top corner that was somehow tipped away for a corner.
Both sides probed for an opening to take all 3 points but it wasn’t to be, and they had to settle for a point each which was well received by the visiting supporters.
