Alton Football Club is looking to fill the following volunteer roles to support our Boys U18 Youth Team (Allied Counties League).

Coach – Boys U18 Youth Team & Men's Development Team

We are looking for individual(s) to support both our Boys U18 Youth Team (Allied Counties League) and Men's Development/Reserve Team. The individual(s) can either be an experienced coach, or a more junior coach who is looking to progress and advance their knowledge and experience.

The individual(s) will be required to help in training and on match days to manage sessions and with pre/post match day support. The roles require attendance 2-3 midweek nights and on a Saturday afternoon.

We see these roles as an opportunity for individuals to gain valuable knowledge and experience. They could be covered by one person, two people, or more, if a number of people who wish to be part of Alton Football Club can fulfil the requirements.

Social Media Manager – Boys U18 Youth Team

Purpose: To elevate the visibility and engagement of Alton FC’s Boys U18 Youth Team through dynamic, values-driven social content across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and schedule engaging content (photos, videos, matchday graphics, player spotlights) for social media channels.
  • Collaborate with coaches and parents to gather stories, match highlights, and behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Develop a consistent tone and visual identity aligned with Alton FC’s ethos.
  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages in a timely, professional and positive manner.
  • Track performance metrics and suggest improvements to grow reach and impact.

Ideal Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X (Twitter).
  • Creative eye for storytelling and visual design.
  • Basic graphic design or video editing.
  • Passion for youth football and community building.

Time Commitment: Flexible around matchdays and content needs.

Commercial Manager – Boys U18 Youth Team

Purpose: To secure sponsorships and manage our Boys U18 Youth Team finances, ensuring sustainable growth and access to quality resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and approach local businesses for sponsorship opportunities (kits, equipment, events).
  • Develop sponsorship packages and maintain relationships with partners.
  • Track youth team expenses and help manage budgets for kits, and training gear.
  • Collaborate with club leadership and Men’s and Ladies teams’ Commercial Mangers to align Youth Team commercial strategy with overall club goals.
  • Explore community funding initiatives.

Ideal Skills:

  • Confident communicator with a persuasive, professional approach.
  • Organised and financially literate (basic budgeting and reporting).
  • Experience in sales, fundraising, or partnership development is a plus.
  • Passion for youth development and grassroots sport.

Time Commitment: Flexible, with occasional meetings or sponsor visits.

Operations Manager – Boys U18 Youth Team

Purpose: To ensure smooth communication and coordination across our Boys U18 Youth Team logistics, including matchday planning and opposition liaison.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for team fixtures, coordinating with opposition teams and league officials.
  • Share weekly schedules and updates with coaches, parents, and players.
  • Support with pitch bookings, referee arrangements, and kit logistics.
  • Maintain clear records of fixtures, results, and attendance.
  • Help resolve any matchday or scheduling issues quickly and professionally.

Ideal Skills:

  • Excellent communicator with strong organisational skills.
  • Calm under pressure and solution-oriented.
  • Familiarity with youth football structures and matchday protocols.
  • Reliable and approachable presence within the team.

Time Commitment: 4–6 hours per week, with key involvement on matchdays.
