Saturday's Matchday Programme Notes from Men's Chairman Nigel Rhodes

18 Dec 2024

We welcome our opponents and match officials and hope they enjoy their stay

For a number of reasons these are my first thoughts and notes for a programme this season

Firstly the football

The season so far has been a bit mixed in terms of results, but in terms of overall performances has been I believe not as rewarding as the management team and players deserve, there have been many games that with a bit more fortune we would have collected several more positive results than the league table shows. We know that geographically we are in no man’s land and recruiting players is always going to be difficult, I therefore fully appreciate the effort and commitment that Kev and his management team together with the players put in on a match day and coming training on a weekly basis. I would also like to thank the great supporter base we have with people making match days a very special event, long may it continue

Reasons for no previous notes

As most of you will know for health reasons the last few years have been quite difficult for me, acuminating in having my prostate removed in October last year, the second attempt in curing my cancer. Saying that my latest blood test results are very positive and I am on the right road to recovery. I should add the positive reactions and the support from the many people both inside Alton FC and those as friends and family has helped enormously and I thank you all. So on that note my ask is this, please all you men out there get yourselves checked, book a PSA blood test today

Supporting those amongst us and good causes, not only at Christmas but all year long.

It is very important that we not only look after ourselves but also look out for and support those around us, whether that be physically, emotionally or just in being there. Recently within the Alton FC family we have experienced some unfortunate occurrences and this is the reason we should support each other and the charities in helping to make life easier and hopefully better for everyone

Lastly have a great festive break and look after yourselves and family

Enjoy the game, remember RESPECT to all, both on and off the pitch
