Match report by Dave Hawtin
Alton were pretty comprehensibly beaten on Saturday at the current league leaders.
On a pitch that is not ideal for football as the playing surface is a real challenge the home side have a way to play and they do it really well.
They move the ball forward very quickly and have really mobile attackers who harass the opposition and pounce on any moment of hesitation or error. They also deliver real quality into the penalty area from both flanks.
Redhill led two nil at half time and only the woodwork saved the visitors on two other occasions.
Alton were a lot better in the second half and started it on the front foot forcing a couple of goalmouth scrambles and a super diving save from the home keeper as they sought to get back in the game.
Then on the hour the sucker punch as the home side more or less finished the game as a contest with their third goal. Too easy it has to be said.
The visitors continued to play where they could and got a consolation goal.
Half time substitutes Angel Zapata who was a constant threat down the right was tripped in the box and Adam Poynter confidently shot home from the resulting penalty.
An off day for Alton and those have been very rare this season.
With no game this coming Saturday, Alton travel to Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday 9th November.
