The team battled hard but today just wasn’t their day.
AFC Totten women played some great attacking football in the first half taking the lead, Alton answered with a great finish from Eva in the top right corner but a quick reply from AFC Totton saw them go ahead again. The first half was rounded off by a great free kick from AFC Totton and they went into the break 3-1 up.
The second half was much more even with Alton dominating for large spells and pushing hard piling on the pressure but they came up against a strong defence who were not for breaking. AFC Totten women sealed it with a 4th goal.
Thanks to AFC Totton Ladies for a really competitive game and best of luck for the rest of the season.
In a spirited contest between two competitive sides, Alton Development delivered a strong team performance, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Solent Sports Women’s Development.
Lucy opened the scoring with two well-taken goals, while Britoni stole the show on her unforgettable debut, also netting twice—one a thunderous bullet header from a corner.
Britoni’s heroics rightly earned her Player of the Match, and Lisa added strength and composure in her debut.
Despite missing captain Connie and striker Lexie, vice-captain Poppy filled the leadership void superbly.
However, the real entertainment came courtesy of Megan in goal, who injected some comedy into the proceedings with her unorthodox saves. At one point, she crawled across the six-yard box, roaring like Simba in The Lion King, as she frantically pounced on a loose ball. Later, in true Sonic the Hedgehog style, she ring rolled and chased a wayward ball, stopping it from crossing the line just in time.
These laugh-out-loud moments from both teams only added to the fun, as Alton powered their way to a well-earned victory.
