The Farnham squad was the initiative of Pete Browning and put together in the Autumn of 2023 to compete in the 2023/24 FA National Over 60's Football Competition, 16 teams nationwide, 4 groups of 4.
Farnham were grouped with Oxford, Kent and East Sussex.
In the Quarter Final of the competition Farnham will host Worcester on Sunday the 13th of October, in Alton with a 2pm Kick Off.
Among the Farnham playing squad which is drawn from the local area are:
Pete Browning - Played and managed Farnham Town in the 80's and 90's and who along with team mates John Regan and Dave Lazell currently represents the England Over 60's side who will be in opposition on the day.
Roger Steer - Football legend who will be familiar to many local football fans having been Involved in some of the biggest non-league clubs in our area during his long and still flourishing career , still dictating games at 70 years of age.
Gwynne Berry - Played at Woking for Geoff Chapple and has an F A Trophy winners medal from one of their Wembley appearances.
Dave Hawtin - Alton FC Director of Football, Played for Alton, Farnham, Basingstoke and Farnborough.
Having the physical ability and the opportunity to still be able to play football is something the whole squad is grateful for. From the outset it was agreed that we would want to give something back. At each game the group is involved in a collection of match fees is made that at the end of the National competition will be distributed to local charities. The current status of that account is now well into four figures and rising very nicely.
Support for both games would be very welcome.
