Newly formed Alton Galaxy played their first Sunday game in the PHYL and had a convincing home win.
The U12 Thunder team enjoyed a hard fought, but deserved 2 - 1 victory away at Hook Utd U12 Panthers this morning.
Alton were rewarded for their hard work and excellent play in taking a 1 - 0 lead mid way through the first half through Samuel Barton via a thumping left foot shot into the top of the net after beating a Hook defender on the left edge of the penalty area.
Hook equalised with their first good chance on a breakaway with their forward sliding the ball past the advancing Jacob Dack in goal.
Alton restored their lead early in the 2nd half thanks to Leo McKee and then continued to push to extend that lead with only the woodwork preventing them on 2 separate occasions but couldn’t quite make numerous chances count.
A positive start to their season in their first competitive match.
Alton Storm competed in their first ever Hants cup game on the south coast and ran out winners and are into the draw for the next round in October.
