Sheerwater were good value for their win on Saturday.
They dominated the first half and whilst the home side came back into the game in the second half they maintained their threat on the break to take the three points.
The visitors opened the scoring on 22 minutes. A lovely strike from the angle of the box, but had been knocking on the door straight from the kick off keeping Stephen Douglas on his toes regularly throughout the half.
Kev Adair made a couple of changes at the break and the home side certainly looked a bit sharper going forward as a couple of half chances went begging.
The visiting keeper made an instinctive save from a Tolu Ajayi-Obe's close range volley.
As Alton pressed, Sheerwater looked sharp on the break and continued to keep Douglas honest with a couple of rasping shots that he blocked clear.
As the game entered injury time substitute Liam Marshall reacted quickest in a crowded penalty area but the ball was slightly behind him and he didn’t have the time to let it drop a little lower before his rasping shot just cleared the bar.
Alton travel to league leaders Knaphill on Saturday to complete a busy first month of the season. 3pm kick off.
