Alton 2 - 0 Sheerwater

Match report by Dave Hawtin

Two goals in two minutes on the hour mark finally broke the defensive resistance of the visitors who had riden their luck during the first half and survived numerous missed chances especially from headed chances as the home side dominated.

The young visitors also provided a threat on the break so the challenge for the home side was to be patient, keep creating and to stay alert to that threat.

The two goals, a close range tap in from Owen Tanner and a nice lobbed finish on the angle from Jamie Hoppitt were the reward for the disciplined and organised approach of the home side as the nerves and concern began to build inside the stadium.

During the last half an hour Alton played some super possession based football, keeping the ball and constantly moving the visitors around the pitch to comfortably see out the game.

Alton travel to Fleet Town on Tuesday before returning home again on Saturday, when Horley Town will be the visitors to The Exclusive Networks Stadium. Kick off 3pm.
