Match report by Dave Hawtin

The home side found themselves chasing the game again following two break away goals in the first 19 minutes of this game.

Alton 0 - 4 Abbey Rangers
Alton 0 - 4 Abbey Rangers

Alton dominated territorially throughout the first half but for all their efforts all they could show was one outstanding save by the visiting goalkeeper and numerous goal mouth skirmishes that just would not fall for them.

There was an air of confidence within the home supporters at the half time interval, if they continued to press surely something would go their way.

Sadly less than a minute into the second half and all that optimism and hope was shattered as the home side conceded another disappointing goal.

On this occasion you could see the hope drain from the players faces and whilst they continued to work hard to reduce the deficit the visitors had a really good control of the game, comfortably keeping the home side at arms length.

Just to rub it in the visitors broke again on the hour to score goal number four, game definitely over. Better days ahead for Alton for sure.

Alton travel to Knaphill tonight (Tuesday) then return home on Saturday when Colliers Wood Utd will be the visitors to The Exclusive Networks Stadium. Kick off 3pm.
