Gareth Billington, U18 Team Manager/Coach

"My connection to the club started in 1984 when my family moved to the area and I joined one of the junior teams. After several years of playing there and then in the senior team I started coaching in the juniors again about 10 years ago and moved up through the age groups with that team. This is now my 3rd season as Lead for the Youth team.

Our main aim is to develop the young players and prepare them both for Alton FC and also for life after age group football in general. It is a source of great pride that last season 25 players from my time with the Youth team played for our senior teams. We are working on strengthening that player pathway even more over the next couple of years.

Our current cohort looks like an exciting group of players so I’m hoping for a successful season and to see more and more of them pushing into the Dev Squad and First Team."
