Graham Purser, First Team Coach

"This is my second season as Alton FC Coach. I have previously played for Alton U18, Reserves and First Team. Having played for Alton for many years (and always followed Alton) I can proudly say the club is the strongest I have ever seen it both on and off the field. There is a really clear pathway from youth to senior football for young players, and we have some quality young players coming through the club.

It’s fantastic to be involved in the “Alton family” with so many amazing people both and off the field. The facilities we have are second to none and we have a fantastic coaching group that is a pleasure to work with. We have a fantastic tight knit group of players that give everything for each other and the club. They are driven to achieve and succeed and I firmly believe they will continue to improve and progress themselves and the club.

After having our strongest finish for 20+ years in the Wessex Prem, we now face the challenges of the Combined Counties league and some unknown sides. As always, we relish the challenges ahead and will work harder than ever to leave no stone unturned to make sure we adapt well to the league change and face the challenges head on.

I am looking forward to testing ourselves in a new league where we know we will face some quality sides and visit some new grounds along the way, especially Jersey. We will also renew and create some local rivalries with sides such as Farnham and Badshot Lea among others.

I am personally looking forward to continually learning and improving myself as a coach and continuing to assist the club’s progression year on year, both on and off the field and work hard to help the club achieve its targets. What am I currently working on? Now that would be telling!

Alton FC for me feels like home. After playing youth and first team football at 16 and playing at the club for many years it’s fantastic to be involved, especially with many of the fans and committee members still here from my playing days. The club is in a fantastic place on and off the field and I am excited to see where Kev, us staff and the players can take it in the coming years.

Looking forward to seeing you all back at The Enclosure very soon.
