Tadley-Calleva 2 - 0 Alton

01 Nov 2025

Match report by Dave Hawtin

3 points that got away on Saturday as the visitors did more than enough to take at the very least a point.

From the start Alton were on top and playing some very good football. They dominated both territory and possession but were unable to take advantage of the 3 or 4 golden opportunities they created in the first half.

Then right on half time they were made to pay for not turning their dominance into a lead as the home side scored from a corner with a powerful header from close range.

The second half was more evenly balanced but the visitors still created a couple of really good opportunities but the home keeper thwarted both chances with really good blocks.

Tadley won the game by extending the lead in the 78th minute. It was a little to easy for the striker to create the space for the shot but to be fair it was a really good strike from 18 yards right in the corner of the net.

Creating chances is better than not creating anything at all. That would be a worry. The side worked hard, played some really good football, were the better side in the main and deserved more than they got from this game.

Alton travel to Frimley Green tomorrow (Tuesday) night in the Aldershot Senior Cup. 7.45pm kick-off.
