Fawley 0 - 2 Alton

Alton returned from Fawley on Saturday with another victory and for the first time this season a second clean sheet on the bounce.

The game had a cagey opening as both sides got to grip with the bobbly surface. Due to floodlight and landlord issues this was only Fawley's second home game of the season.

Alton keeper Lewis Boughton was forced in to action as he saved from Kieran Roche, and the resultant corner was cleared.

With Taylor Watts resting his broken nose, Callum Burch was moved out wide and he got Alton's first shot away that was saved by Jon Page in the Fawley goal.

Scott Sanderson got away down the right after a fine ball from George Callard, but his shot went into the side netting.

Callard was again in action as he got back to clear, before Burch was fouled at the other end, but Matt Graham's free kick was cleared.

Having now got to grips with the surface Alton were beginning to create chances and good work by Sanderson and player manager Mark Corbett, created a chance for Burch that was blocked.

Sean Hayes was becoming more influential in midfield and was unceremoniously upended and Danny Knees free kick went wide, having used this as a sighter it was Knee who gave Alton the lead when Sanderson played him through and he curled his shot wide of the keeper into the far corner.

It wasn't all one way traffic and Boughton got down to save again from Roche, before Sanderson had a shot saved. Alton doubled their lead when Sanderson got on the end of a cross which was blocked, Corbett's follow up shot was also blocked but Knee was alert to fire the second rebound home. This proved to be Sanderson's final action as he was hurt in the build up and was replaced by Adam Allaway.

Another good ball from Corbett almost put Burch in, before Fawley wasted a good chance to pull a goal back as the half ended when Ben Bolton headed over when unmarked.

Fawley sensed they could get back in the game as the second half started and after Knee had a shot saved, Boughton had to be alert to scamper back and save from Bolton, and from the resultant corner he punched clear to Copplestone who then played Knee through but he shot over the bar.

Fawley sub Steven Green shot over when well placed before Hayes and Knee combined but Corbett couldn't get his shot away. Fawley had a cross miss everyone before Roche shot wide when well placed.

Alton were defending manfully and protecting their clean sheet, Hayes committed a foul on the edge of the box. but Bradley couldn't keep the free kick down and it sailed safely over the bar. Fawley's Roche got free and as Boughton came out he chipped him but chipped wide.

And so the game ended with an Alton victory and that all important clean sheet.

Next up for Alton is a home game when US Portsmouth are the visitors to The Enclosure.
