Frimley Green 0 - 4 Alton Youth

Updated: 05.10.17

Alton continued their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a comfortable win in what was their first away league fixture of the season.

With quite a few injuries and illness on the day Alton knew that they would have to get through the fixture with only two fit bodies on the bench.

The game and most of the first half saw Alton in control of procession but not able to create as many clear cut chances as they would have liked but in total control across the back line. The first chance fell to Louis Kennett who headed over from one of Alton’s many corners, the next chance came after good work down the left flank, but nobody could get on the end of a good cross.

The first goal came after Kian Ventham won the ball and released Joe Abel who beat the advancing keeper from the edge of the area.

Alton’s patience paid off second half as their dominance eventually told and the goals that they deserved came but at a cost. With the visitors adjusting to the grass and slope they moved the ball with more conviction and after some good work from Joe Gasson on the right wing and a scramble in the goalmouth Liam Knight eventually bundled the ball over the line for the second Alton goal.

The next was not far behind after a corner from the right the home side failed to clear and Louis Kennett curled the ball into the top corner from 12 yards.

More chances came as the home side got frustrated and challenges came flying in, with some quite crude tackles the visitors did not get much protection from the official.

Eventually the home side were reduced to 10 men after another poor challenge, soon after Alton got there fourth and final goal when Joe Gasson rose hieghest to head home from 8 yards out.

Alton had already bought on Jack Cantwell from the injured Reiss Deere then made their second and last change with James Laird replacing Harry Rolfe.

The visitors created a string of chances before the end with James laird going close twice in quick succession heading over from 6 yards and then having a shot well saved after a good pass from Ben Carlisle, unfortunately James not getting the goal he deserved.

Alton themselves finished with 10 men after the injured Joe Toft sat out the last 5 minutes with a groin injury.

Job done 3 wins on the bounce in the league, this was not pretty but everybody done what was asked of them. Only down side was injuries and two bookings (started for ten can you name and shame these payers ?) probably not a hard job hey Liam & Kian.

On Tuesday we entertain a strong Camberley side that are top of the Ryman Youth League, this will be a great test for us (if we have 11 fit players). Please come along and watch 7.45 ko at Alton.
