Laverstock & Ford 4 - 2 Alton
Updated: 16.08.17Alton travelled to Laverstock on Tuesday and made one change to the side from Saturday Sean Hayes replacing Regan Hitch.
It was easy to see why Laverstock are the early table toppers, as they were sharp and moved the ball quickly and with purpose. Taylor Watts had a shot blocked before Matt Petts made his first save as he rushed out to save at the feet of Wykes. Closely followed by a save from a header from Mankin.
Laverstock were threatening to run away with it Clifton shot over before Hoare somehow managed to head over when unmarked. Petts made another save before rather against the run of play Taylor Watts gave Alton the lead, as he ran wide and past his defender, before shooting across the keeper to give Alton the lead.
Alton now had a period of pressure Sean Hayes shot over the bar, before Sanderson almost got free, Laverstocks, Brockway and Clifton had headers over before Hayes and Danny Knee bought saves from Aguer in the Laverstock goal.
As half time approached Watts increased Alton's lead, once again he got away from his marker, his first effort was saved but the rebound fell kindly for him and despite the best efforts of Bourner on the line his follow up shot found the net. Alton hadn't learnt from Saturday and almost immediately Max Allen reduced the deficit right on half time.
The second half started as the first had ended with most of the pressure on the Alton goal, Bourner was allowed too much room and his fine cross found Wykes and his header beat Petts to draw Laverstock level.
Laverstock up'd the pressure and John Cass had to be alert to head clear, Petts was again called into action, before Jody Thorpe had a shot saved.
Laverstock took the lead when Mundy was given time and room in midfield and with nothing really on shot home from 30yds to give Laverstock the lead. Five minutes later the game was over as Mankin scored Laverstock's forth with a header from a corner.
A foul on Joe Clarke gave Alton a chance but Hitch's free kick hit the wall, Matt Graham crossed, and Sanderson headed back across the goal, but no one for Alton was in the area. Joe Clarke had a shot saved before the referee bought the proceedings to an end.
Alton now face a trip to the Island to take on East Cowes Vics and will be looking to put this behind them as they try to find some momentum.
