The Enclosure Anstey Park - One Year On

Posted: 06.12.16

They say a year is a long time in football, but a year ago this week 12th December, Alton Town moved from the Bass ground to play their first home game at 'The Enclosure' and by doing so return to their spiritual home, as they joined forces with Alton United Youth to form Alton FC.

That first game saw us defeat AFC Stoneham 4-0, the first goal on the 3G was scored by Luke Perkins from the penalty spot, the first of two for him, and also with two that day was Jonny Gray.

During the last twelve months we entertain 21 different teams, having played a total of 26 matches [including the original league cup match against Baffin's] winning 16, losing 8 and drawing the other 2.

This is how the makeup of the games have been:

Pl W D L F A
League 19 12 2 5 51 34
Cups 7 4 0 3 18 22
Totals 26 16 2 8 69 56

We have seen a total of 50 players wear our colours. Ten of these players have only appeared the once. Leading the way with 23 is Richie Hunter, and then on 22 is Ash Peck, followed by Sean Hayes, Chris Adkins and Kurt Greenway with 17 appearances each.

We have had a total of 21 goal scorers, plus one own goal scored by Romsey a couple of weeks ago.

Leading the goal scoring stakes are Jonny Gray and Curtis Thorn with 9 each, Luke Perkins with 8 and Scott Sanderson with 7. There have been three hat-tricks, - although in fact they have all been four baggers. The first four-bagger was scored by Curtis Thorn in March against US Portsmouth; while there have been two this season, Jonny Gray against Cove in the Hampshire Senior Cup and Scott Sanderson against New Milton last weekend.

Our highest win was 7-0 against New Milton last weekend, while we have scored six on two occasions, against US Portsmouth last season when we won 6-3, and against Cove this season in the Hampshire Senior Cup where we won 6-1. We have kept six clean sheets, but also failed to score on five occasions. It hasnt all been plain sailing though, as we have conceded nine in two matches, both this season, against Laverstock in the league and in the re-played league cup match against Baffin Milton Rovers.

On the discipline stakes we have been issue with 37 yellow cards and 5 red cards, the naughtiest player is Henry Fox [5 yellows and 1 red], while Chris Adkins has received two of the red cards. The other players receiving their marching orders are Kurt Greenaway and Ryan Bunney.
