Alton Girls and Ladies Weekend Roundup

29 Jan 2024

Here’s your round up from the girls & ladies fixtures this weekend.

Saturday 27th January

Meerkats L v Wyvern Jaguars U10 W
Sophin scored a possible individual goal of the season, starting well inside her own half and beat 4 players before nicely finishing her goal.

Thundercats v Clarendon Greens U12
Thundercats had a double header of two 40-minute games against Clarendon. Both games were brilliant for the spectators, end to end for 80 minutes. The first game ended 1-1 with lots of chances for both teams. Our goal came from a brilliant Jasmine assist for Amelia to fire home. The 2nd game ended in a 5-1 defeat, same end to end with many chances, however Clarendon were clinical in finishing. Another goal followed for Amelia, assisted by Emily. Amelia and Poppy were also in goal for 40 minutes, pulling off save after save to keep the game alive. Great team effort and 80 minutes of resilience from all players.

Pumas v Whitchurch U13
The Pumas won 9-0 against Whitchurch. A superb game played in good spirit; the girls played some superb football. Two goals from Eliza, two for Bella G, also goals from Ruby and Evie A. We were thrilled to see Cara and Myla score their first ever goals for the Pumas as well as Isla scoring her first goal on her debut match.

Panthers 2 v City Ladies 1 U14
The Panthers won 2-1 against City Ladies. A very close but exciting game.

Warriors 6 v Clanfield youth 2 U16
Dominant team performance against Clanfield. Every one of our 13 players contributed to the result and the team contribution was the most pleasing aspect! A well deserved 6-2 victory with 2 goals each for Ellie May, Sophie H & Amelia. Highlight of the game was Amelia’s half volley from a corner. Well done all 👏🏼

Sunday 28th January

Bobcats L v Liphook W cubs U8
Bobcats lost at home to Liphook Utd. Bella H and Paige scored for the Bobcats, whilst Amélie made some great saves during a strong 1st period for Liphook.

Youth v W&H Diamonds U18
Youth 2-1 win away to a strong Walton and Hersham side. 2 goals from Sophie H keeps us top of the league with 1 game to go at home next Sunday.

Alton Ladies 7 v Bursledon Ladies Reserves 1
A great day today with a record crowd, U8 Bobcats supporting as mascots and a win for the team.
It was brilliant to see the team take what they work on in training and apply that into matches!
Great hardworking performances from everyone with good linking up between the players and some quick football.
Player of the match goes to Charlotte who put in a great shift today. Well done Charlotte.
A few other mentions. Katie slotted into the team as if she had been with us for months, Connie managed a good solid first half, in her progression back from injury. Rachel with a perfect hattrick, Georgia H with 2 assists from a new position on the wing.
We are very thankful to all the spectators that came out to support today and @freyamarleyfilm for photography. We’ll be sharing the photos soon!
We wanted to finish up by saying It was an absolute pleasure to host Burseldon Ladies reserves, a great team who worked non stop throughout the match and we wish them the very best with the rest of their season.
