Alton Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Carl Saunders as the new Chairman of the Club.
Carl succeeds the outgoing Chairman, Jim McKell, who led the club from shortly after the merger between Alton Town and Alton United Youth in 2016 until recently.
Jim has been the driving force behind the club's success during the last 7 years, increasing our membership numbers, creating a bridge between the Youth section and the Adult sections and he leaves the club in a healthy position with sound finances. The Committee would like to thank Jim for everything he has done.
The Club now enters its next phase of development as we forecast our numbers to increase further, driven by the growth of the town, success of women's football and the introduction of Disability football. Carl is ideally placed to lead the club through what will be exciting times.
Upon accepting his new role, Carl re-iterated his passionate commitment to the club, saying, "I am honoured to accept the responsibility of Chair of Alton Football Club. Together with our Executive Committee, our Adult, Youth and Ladies committees, our team managers, players, parents, club volunteers and growing fan base, I'm confident we will build on our club's legacy and continue to provide a safe, friendly and fun environment for the local community to enjoy football."
