Tadley Calleva 1 - 4 Alton

Posted: 28.11.18

Alton thoroughly deserved to progress to the semi finals as they put their premier division opposition to the sword and in truth never looked in danger of losing.

Having to make a few changes to Saturday's side due to injuries it was Alton who started brightly and almost went in front in the third minute as Scott Sanderson's header from a corner was cleared off the line.

Alton didn't have too wait long and in the fifth minute Matt Grahams in swinging corner was headed home by Matt Bunyan.

The game ebbed and flowed but the Alton defenders dealt with everything that Tadley could throw at them and Alton always looked threatening on the break.

Alton went further ahead midway through the half, a long ball forward looked destined to be collected safely by a Tadley defender, but as he controlled the ball he slipped allowing Scott Sanderson to pounce on the lose ball, and he advanced on goal and he doubled Alton's lead as his shot was too hard for the keeper to keep out.

Tadley made a change at half time to their midfield and came more into the game without really creating an awful lot.

Alton were having chances of their own, as they went looking for the killer third goal. If finally arrived mid way through the half, Tadley played a short goal kick which was returned to the keeper, his clearance was deflected by Sanderson to Bunyan thirty yards from goal, who controlled and then curled the ball past a defender and into the net with the keeper stranded in no mans land.

Tadley were not to be out done and pulled a goal back shortly after as Alton failed to deal with a long throw and Denham was on hand to poke the ball home.

Tadley sensed an unlikely come back and Boughton had to be alert to save from Denham, before George Spiers scored Alton's forth.

Alton forced a corner on the left which Bunyan headed back across goal only for a Tadley defender to clear for another corner, and with time running down, Spiers headed in to give Alton the victory and a place in the semi finals.
